Binance Holdings is in talks with the U.S. Justice Department to drop a requirement for an outside compliance monitor in the crypto exchange's $4.3B settlement over alleged criminal violations of U.S. anti-money laundering requirements, according to a Tuesday media report.

The DOJ has yet to finalize whether the three-year monitorship will remain in place, Bloomberg reported. Binance settled the matter [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4039267-binance-founder-and-ceo-zhao-to-step-down-plead-guilty-report] in 2023, with the company's CEO Changpeng Zhao stepping down.

Officials are expected to require Binance to strengthen its compliance reporting before agreeing to ease the terms, the article said.

The DOJ has already cut short monitorships at three companies that accepted them under Biden-era agreements, Bloomberg [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-16/binance-nears-deal-to-escape-compliance-monitor-imposed-by-doj] noted, citing court records.

Binance Coin (BNB-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BNB-USD]), Binance's native crypto, rose 3.8% in the last 24 hours to about $954 per token at press time.

Neither the DOJ nor Binance immediately responded to Seeking Alpha's request for comment.
