Stock futures edged higher in Monday's premarket session as optimism over a potential US-China trade deal and a widely expected Federal Reserve rate cut lifted sentiment. Investors are also bracing for a flood of Big Tech earnings, with the week set to be packed with major quarterly results.

Here are some of Monday's biggest stock movers:

BIGGEST STOCK GAINERS

* AVIDITY BIOSCIENCES (NASDAQ:RNA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RNA]) +42% - Shares surged after Novartis (NVS [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NVS]) agreed to acquire the company in a $12B all-cash deal, valuing shares at $72 each, a 46% premium to Friday’s close. The acquisition bolsters Novartis’s pipeline in rare muscle disorders, led by Avidity’s mid-stage candidate for a subtype of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, while Avidity’s early-stage precision cardiology assets will be spun out into a new publicly traded entity, Spinco. The move strengthens Novartis’s position in genetic and rare disease therapies as it prepares for upcoming patent expirations across several key drugs.
* HIVE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:HIVE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HIVE]) +6% - Shares soared after the company surpassed 22 exahash per second in global bitcoin-mining capacity, reflecting 267% YTD growth. The company is currently producing ~9.5 BTC per day with a fleet efficiency of ~17.8 J/TH and a 55% mining margin at a $47 hashprice. With additional ASIC miners scheduled to come online, HIVE expects to reach 25 EH/s by U.S. Thanksgiving, targeting efficiency of 17.5 J/TH. Management highlighted that EH/s expansion drives revenue and cash flow, noting that digital infrastructure firms are typically valued based on these metrics.
*
POET TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:POET [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/POET]) +4% - Shares rose after announcing securities purchase agreements with institutional investors for ~20.69M common shares in an oversubscribed registered direct offering, expected to raise ~$150M in gross proceeds. Closing is anticipated on or about October 28, 2025. The company plans to use the net proceeds for corporate development, including targeted acquisitions, R&D scale-up, acceleration of its light source business, expansion of operations, and general working capital. Following the closing, POET’s pro forma cash position is projected to exceed $300M.

BIGGEST STOCK LOSERS

* GENENTA SCIENCE (NASDAQ:GNTA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GNTA]) -27% - Shares tumbled after the company announced a $15M capital raise via a securities purchase agreement with institutional investors, selling 4.29M ADSs at $3.50 each with no warrants attached. The company said it will use the net proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes. The offering is expected to close on or around October 28, 2025.
