The S&P 500 inched higher to a record closing high as Wall Street mostly shrugged off signs of tariffs raising wholesale prices in July. The S&P 500 rose slightly, based on preliminary figures, to build on Wednesday's record. The Nasdaq dropped slightly from yesterday's closing high.
