Allstate estimates sequential drop in July catastrophe losses

Property and casualty insurer Allstate (NYSE:ALL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ALL]) said [https://seekingalpha.com/filing/10329548] on Thursday that its July catastrophe losses are estimated at $184M, or $145M after-tax.

The metric compares with $619M, or $489M after-tax, estimated for June [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4468337-allstate-estimates-lower-catastrophe-losses-for-q2].

June losses included 15 events, with ~70% of the losses related to three wind and hail events. Comparatively, July losses included 19 wind and hail events.

As of July 31, Allstate had 37.91M protection policies in force.

Segment-wise, Auto logged 25.24M protection policies, Homeowners 7.61M policies, Other personal lines 4.89M policies, and Commercial lines 0.17M policies in force.
