Constellation Energy (NASDAQ:CEG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CEG]) said Tuesday its project to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center in Pennsylvania - formerly Three Mile Island Unit 1 - remains ahead of schedule [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20240858-one-year-later-crane-clean-energy-center-still-in-the-spotlight-and-ahead-of-schedule], with the unit expected back online in 2027.

Constellation (NASDAQ:CEG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CEG]) said the project is nearly 80% staffed, with 500 full-time employees onsite and dozens more pending; inspections of steam generators, main generator, emergency diesel generators, and underground piping have been completed or are near completion; and received accelerated approval from grid operator PJM for interconnection, clearing the path for grid integration and allowing the unit to accelerate its restart to 2027.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing and regulatory filings remain on track, and progress continues with state and local environmental agencies to secure permits for water usage and environmental protection, the company said.

Constellation (CEG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CEG]) said Crane’s restart has been made possible through its 20-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft, marking a symbolic turning point for the U.S. nuclear industry.
