Instagram hits new milestone with 3B monthly actives

Meta's (NASDAQ:META [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/META]) popular photo-sharing app Instagram has hit a milestone of three billion monthly active users, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday.

“What an incredible community we’ve built here. Thank you for being a part of it," Zuckerberg said on Instagram.

The app, which was bought by Zuckerberg in 2011 for $1B, currently has a brand value of at least over $45B, according to some valuation firms.

Earlier this year, Meta's flagship social media app, Facebook, and its text service app, WhatsApp, also hit the milestone of over three billion MAUs.

The new Instagram milestone comes nearly three years after the company disclosed in October 2022 that the app's MAUs crossed the two billion mark.
