Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TTD]) said Walmart (NYSE:WMT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/WMT]) and the company are "fully committed to their partnership," after reports suggested that the retail giant last year renegotiated its agreement with the adtech firm.
According to a report by The Information on Thursday [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4485495-walmart-amends-adtech-agreement-with-trade-desk-which-might-benefit-amazon], Walmart (NYSE:WMT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/WMT]) has the option to use ad-buying platforms of other firms.
Under the previous agreement, which lasted for four years, Trade Desk was the exclusive technology provider to advertisers buying spots on the Web using Walmart shopper data for targeting. The report said the move might benefit direct rival Amazon (AMZN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AMZN]).
In 2021 Walmart Connect and TTD had entered into an agreement, and since then the two companies extended their multi-year deal, Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TTD]) said [https://www.thetradedesk.com/press-room/the-trade-desk-and-walmart-connect-partnership-goes-from-strength-to-strength].
"In Q2, a record amount of spend was influenced by retail data, both on our platform and on the Walmart DSP, as more shopper marketing budgets flow into programmatic," TTD's CEO Jeff Green said last week.
The Trade Desk and Walmart Connect are fully committed to the partnership and continue to innovate together. The two companies are looking forward to expanding the partnership in the years ahead. As Ryan Mayward, senior VP of retail media sales for Walmart Connect, said in June, “We are all in on The Trade Desk.”
