Robinhood's platform assets edge up M/M in August, net deposits slide

Robinhood Markets' (NASDAQ:HOOD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HOOD]) total platform assets [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20230079-robinhood-markets-inc-reports-august-2025-operating-data] of $303.9B compared with $298.0B in July and surged from $143.6B a year earlier, the company said on Thursday.

Equity notional trading volumes slid 5% M/M to $199.2B, but jumped 107% from August 2024. Options contracts traded were roughly flat sequentially at 195.5M, but gained 33% Y/Y.

Robinhood App crypto notional trading volumes were $13.7B, down 18% from July and up 154% Y/Y, while Bitstamp Exchange crypto notional trading volumes of $14.4B rose 21% M/M.

Net deposits were $4.8B last month, or a 19% annualized growth rate relative to July 2025 total platform assets, compared with $6.4B in July and $3.3B in last year's August.

Funded customers at the end of August totaled 26.7M, little changed from July and up some 2.4M from a year before.

Margin balances increased 10% M/M and 127% Y/Y to $12.5B.

Total cash sweep balances at the end of the month were $34.1B vs. $33.6B in July and $22.8B in August 2024.

HOOD shares slipped 0.5% in after-hours trading.
