Cryptocurrencies are now more accessible for the 75 million Samsung Galaxy smartphone users in the U.S.

U.S. Galaxy users now have three months free access to Coinbase’s (NASDAQ:COIN) Coinbase One premium service within their Samsung Wallet app, Samsung said last week.

The recent announcement builds on a previous partnership announced in July, which saw Coinbase integrate Samsung Pay, enabling Galaxy users to more easily purchase cryptocurrencies on the exchange.

While the promotion is starting with U.S. users, Coinbase and Samsung plan to eventually expand the offer to include all Galaxy users, according to Coinbase Chief Business Officer Shan Aggarwal.

“Together with Samsung, we’re pairing their global scale with Coinbase’s trusted platform to deliver the best value for people to access crypto — starting with more than 75 million of Galaxy users across the U.S., and soon around the world,” he said.

However, according to Samsung Next investor Sam Campbell, the Coinbase partnership is only “Phase 1” of Samsung’s plan to drive cryptocurrency adoption.

Samsung is no newbie to the cryptocurrency space. In 2019, the South Korean tech giant launched the Blockchain Keystore with the release of its Galaxy S10 series, allowing users to execute cryptocurrency transactions and access decentralized applications. The company also offered non-fungible tokens with pre-orders of its S22 series in 2022.

“Samsung has incredible distribution and we’re on a mission to bring real crypto adoption to the real world,” Campbell said on X. “Much more to come.”

Samsung’s most recent move comes as cryptocurrencies appear to be in the middle of a bull market spurred by improving U.S. regulatory conditions and favorable macroeconomic winds.

Many expect Samsung’s cryptocurrency embrace to be even more bullish for the asset class, serving as an easy on-chain on-ramp for its over one billion Galaxy users.

“We are going to bring them all to Base,” Coinbase Head of Protocols Jesse Pollaksaid on X, referring to the Coinbase-incubated Ethereum Layer 2 Chain.
