CenterPoint Energy restores power to about 124K customers in Houston after severe storms

CenterPoint Energy on Saturday said it had restored power to approximately 124,000 customers in the greater Houston area following overnight storms that brought strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning.

According to a company update posted on X (formerly Twitter), fewer than 45,000 customers still remained without power.

"Crews have been working diligently to restore power after last last night's severe weather packing strong winds, heavy rain and lightning. We'll continue working safely to restore remaining customers as quickly as possible," CenterPoint said.

The overnight storms had earlier impacted nearly 169,000 customers at the height of their intensity, the company added. It has a total of 2.8M customers.
