The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0% higher at C$1.3812 to the greenback, or 72.4 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3788 to 1.3816.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 4.8 basis points to 3.46%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.3277%.
U.S. September crude futures fell $1.16 to settle at $62.8 a barrel on Friday.
Canadian factory sales rose 0.3% in June from the previous month, Statistics Canada said. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected factory sales growth of 0.4%.
