Vestas Wind Systems (OTCPK:VWDRY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VWDRY]) -0.7% in European trading Monday after saying it stopped development [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-10-18/vestas-halts-poland-blade-factory-as-european-demand-wanes] of a major factory in Poland to produce blades for offshore wind turbines, citing higher costs from materials and weaker than expected demand.

"The development is paused due to lower than projected demand for offshore wind in Europe," Vestas (OTCPK:VWDRY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VWDRY]) said, but the company "continues to invest in local manufacturing footprint where offshore wind market volume and certainty allow."

The factory in Szczecin, which would have made baldes for Vestas' (OTCPK:VWDRY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VWDRY]) newest and biggest offshore wind turbine, was expected to begin production as early as next year.

Vestas (OTCPK:VWDRY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VWDRY]) already produces equipment from another new factory in Poland, which will not be affected by the decision, and it has two other offshore blade factories in Europe, and the company said it could revive the new Polish plant if demand picks up.
