Short interest for the median S&P 500 (SP500 [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SP500]) stock declined to 2.3% as a percentage of float at the end of July – from 2.4% in June – but is still above the long-term average and in the 96th percentile compared to the last five years, according to Goldman Sachs.

Analysts, headed by Goldman Sachs senior equity strategist Ben Snider, listed the large-cap stocks with elevated short interest that have increased since the start of the third quarter.
