ZIM Integrated Shipping slips after Q2 miss, full-year profit upgrade

ZIM Integrated Shipping (NYSE:ZIM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ZIM]) -2.2% in early trading Wednesday after reporting sharply lower Q2 earnings [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4487356-zim-integrated-eps-of-019-revenue-of-164b-misses-by-100m] due to lower freight rates and volumes, but raising the midpoint of its full-year profit guidance.

Q2 net income plunged to $24M from $373M in the year-earlier quarter, operating income - EBIT - fell by a third to $149M from $468M, and revenues fell 15% Y/Y to $1.64B, as the company carried 895K teu in Q2 compared to 952K teu and the average freight rate fell to $1,479/teu from $1,674/teu in the year-ago quarter.

ZIM (NYSE:ZIM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ZIM]) also raised the lower end of its guidance for FY 2025 adjusted EBITDA to $1.8B-$2.2B from $1.6B-$2.2B previously, and adjusted EBIT is forecast at $550M-$950M, compared to $350M-$950M.

"In this highly uncertain market environment, our focus is on controlling what we can to position ZIM for sustainable and profitable growth over the long term," CEO Eli Glickman said.
