Commvault rises after rating upgrade at Piper Sandler

Shares of Commvault Systems (NASDAQ:CVLT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CVLT]) rose about 2% premarket on Monday after Piper Sandler upgraded the stock's rating to Overweight from Neutral.

The firm also raised the price target on the stock to $200 from $195. Commvault provides a cyber resilience platform for protecting and recovering data and cloud-native applications.

Analysts led by James Fish said they were upgrading the stock following their recent checks, the recent pullback in shares over the last few weeks, and the inputs over the last few months across the space and Commvault specifically.

"Overall, Commvault is a Gen-Z player in the backup & recovery space that is seeing durable demand trends given the shift away from the needs of the "Modern Age." Commvault specifically is seeing a net-benefit as its platform is able to address all of the Gen-Z needs in a flexible manner across consumption models," said Fish and his team.

The analysts noted that the company's SHIFT event in November could be a catalyst inthe month.

"We have become incrementally encouraged by the more competitive offering, increased go-to-market investments that seem to be paying off, and the subscription transition providing increased visibility," said the analysts.
