Man Utd takeover talks underway with UAE-based consortium

Senior officials from Manchester United (NYSE:MANU [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MANU]) are reportedly meeting with a United Arab Emirates-based consortium on Monday who have expressed a serious interest in buying the English soccer club.

According to a verified X account, "indykaila News," the owners, i.e., the Glazer family, are meeting with the prospective Emirati buyers in London at 1:00 pm local time and will keep their options "open to all possibilities."

The reports surfaced following a social media buzz created by a Saudi government official, Turki Al-Sheikh, who earlier wrote on X that Man Utd was close to bringing in a potential new investor who may buy the club. He also clarified that he was not involved and that the investor was not from his country.

"The best news I heard today is that Manchester United is now in an advanced stage of completing a deal to sell to a new investor—I hope he's better than the previous owners," Al-Sheikh had written on X. "Just to clarify, I am not the investor, nor are they from my nation. I’m posting this as a fan who wishes the deal to happen, though it might not necessarily happen."
