Xencor slides amid plans for early-stage trial data for kidney cancer drug

Xencor (NASDAQ:XNCR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XNCR]) shares lost ~13% on Tuesday as the company refuted concerns over an upcoming data readout from an early-stage trial for its kidney cancer drug, XmAb819, scheduled to be presented at a medical event later this month.

The Pasadena, California-based biotech said that on Tuesday, an investment bank had posted its analysis of an abstract accepted for a presentation at the AACR-NCI-EORTC Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics.

The abstract is based on an ongoing Phase 1 dose-escalation study designed to evaluate XmAb819 in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma, the most common type of kidney cancer.

The company added that the abstract, which is not yet available to the public, only contains limited details based on a previous data cut and includes a high-level safety summary from all dosing cohorts but no additional efficacy data.
