SOFICO, the Belgian-based provider of software for automotive finance, leasing, fleet, and mobility management, has appointed Wim De Bruyne as Chief Executive Officer and Clive Brett as Chief Technology Officer, signaling a new phase in the company’s international expansion.

According to a press release, the leadership change follows a carefully orchestrated succession plan, developed over several years under CEO Gémar Hompes and CTO/co-founder Piet Maes. Both founders are stepping back from day-to-day operations but will remain significant investors and active members of the Board of Directors, providing strategic guidance.

“This is the right moment for Piet and me to take on a different role,” Hompes said, reflecting on the company’s growth from a small Belgian team to a global firm.

The succession plan began more than four years ago with the arrival of private equity investors Apheon and later Astorg as majority shareholder. During this period, SOFICO expanded its executive team, including the appointments of Michael Deroost as Chief Commercial Officer in 2022 and Steffen Tallieu as Chief Product Officer in 2023, laying the groundwork for scaling operations worldwide.

Charles-Hubert Le Baron, Partner and Head of Tech & Software Mid-Cap at Astorg, noted that under the founders’ leadership, SOFICO “has evolved from a Belgian pioneer into a global leader, serving customers in more than 40 countries.” He added that the appointments of De Bruyne and Brett “ensure the company has the leadership strength to accelerate growth, deepen customer relationships, and expand its global footprint.”

De Bruyne, previously with Montagu Private Equity and Barco, brings international experience in scaling tech companies and leading global teams. “I am honored to join SOFICO at such a pivotal moment,” he said, highlighting the company’s “strong reputation, trusted customer relationships, and the expertise and passion of its people.”

Brett, who succeeds Maes in operational technology leadership, will focus on scaling delivery, advancing SOFICO’s cloud and AI roadmap, and enhancing technical capabilities for global customers. Product leadership remains with Tallieu, ensuring continuity in innovation.

The new leadership team now blends long-standing company expertise with fresh perspectives across all core functions, including commercial, product, operations, finance, and people management.
