Hong Kong stocks rose, boosted by energy shares. CNOOC led the charge, climbing 4.2%, while PetroChina advanced 2.4% and China Shenhua Energy gained 2.2%.
The Hang Seng Index increased by 0.9%, reaching 21,478.11. The China Enterprises Index, which tracks Hong Kong-listed mainland companies, also saw a rise of 0.9%, closing at 12,421.26.
Banking stocks also contributed to the positive sentiment. HSBC added 0.9%, and Bank of China rose by 1.4%.
However, not all sectors experienced gains. China Mobile faced a decline of 0.9%, while China Unicom saw a decrease of 0.6%.
