Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.09%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Plastic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.09% to hit a new 52-week high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Answer Technology Co Ltd (TW:3528), which rose 10.00% or 8.80 points to trade at 96.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualipoly Chemical Corp (TW:4722) added 9.99% or 7.80 points to end at 85.90 and Golden Bridge Electech Inc (TW:6133) was up 9.97% or 1.80 points to 19.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Favite Inc (TW:3535), which fell 9.80% or 6.00 points to trade at 55.20 at the close. Plotech Co Ltd (TW:6141) declined 8.21% or 1.15 points to end at 12.85 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) was down 7.27% or 140.00 points to 1,785.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Answer Technology Co Ltd (TW:3528) rose to all time highs; up 10.00% or 8.80 to 96.80. Shares in Qualipoly Chemical Corp (TW:4722) rose to all time highs; up 9.99% or 7.80 to 85.90.

Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.53% or 0.33 to $62.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.52% or 0.34 to hit $65.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 3.65 to trade at $3,404.65 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 29.99, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.04% to 0.24.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.61.
