Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 1.36% or 3.20 points to trade at 238.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) added 1.07% or 0.96 points to end at 91.06 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) was up 0.86% or 0.19 points to 22.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which fell 2.24% or 0.69 points to trade at 30.16 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) declined 1.87% or 0.32 points to end at 16.79 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was down 1.74% or 1.02 points to 57.76.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 6.05% to 5.07, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was up 2.98% to settle at 4.77 and Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which gained 2.89% to close at 51.20.
The worst performers were Verallia (EPA:VRLA) which was down 5.80% to 25.64 in late trade, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which lost 2.89% to settle at 21.15 and Rubis SCA (EPA:RUBF) which was down 2.26% to 28.54 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 250 to 225 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.07% or 0.96 to 91.06. Shares in Valneva (EPA:VLS) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.05% or 0.29 to 5.07.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 5.58 to $3,377.02 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.55% or 0.34 to hit $62.32 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.29 to trade at $66.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 97.98.
