Portugal stocks lower at close of trade; PSI down 0.79%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI fell 0.79%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which rose 0.67% or 0.14 points to trade at 21.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (ELI:SEM) added 0.66% or 0.12 points to end at 18.20 and Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS) was up 0.63% or 0.03 points to 3.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which fell 3.08% or 0.16 points to trade at 5.03 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) declined 3.08% or 0.33 points to end at 10.37 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) was down 1.65% or 0.06 points to 3.82.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 14 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged.

Brent oil for November delivery was up 1.64% or 1.10 to $68.32 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.93% or 1.23 to hit $64.89 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.58 to trade at $3,417.92 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 98.01.
