* California lawmakers on Wednesday voted to permit the sale of a higher-ethanol fuel blend, aiming to lower gasoline prices in the nation's largest auto market.
* The sale of E15, a blend containing 15% ethanol, would be allowed immediately once the bill is signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.
* “With today’s passage of AB30, California is taking a big step toward lower gas prices and a cleaner, more sustainable future for families across the state,” said Geoff Cooper, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association.
* California is the only state in the nation that does not currently allow the sale of E15.
