Lutnick: India trade deal will come when country stops buying Russian oil

* US Commerce Secretary Harold Lutnick said Thursday that for a trade deal with India to happen, the country has to cease purchasing oil from Russia.
* "India basically has to open their market, has to stop buying Russian oil," Lutnick, speaking on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street," said, adding that before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, India didn't buy much Russian oil.
* He noted that before the war, India purchased about 1% of its oil from Russia. That figure is now 40%.
* Moving on to other countries, the secretary also said that "We've got a big deal coming with Taiwan" and "will probably get a deal done with Switzerland."
* While Lutnick noted [https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/09/11/watch-cnbcs-full-interview-with-u-s-commerce-secretary-howard-lutnick.html] that the U.S. has made a deal with South Korea, he added, "Let's see if they come through with the paperwork."
