Iraq signed a joint operations agreement with TotalEnergies (NYSE:TTE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TTE]) (OTCPK:TTFNF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TTFNF]), QatarEnergy LNG and Basra Oil Company to develop the Artawi oilfield under the country’s Gas Growth Integrated Project, the prime minister’s office announced [https://t.me/s/IraqiPMOEng]Sunday.
The GGIP is designed to capture flared gas from three fields for power generation, expand renewable energy capacity, and reduce Iraq’s reliance on imported fuel. Officials also marked the launch of the second phase of Artawi’s development and the start of the Common Seawater Supply Project, which will deliver up to 5 million barrels of seawater daily to southern oilfields.
Alongside these initiatives, TotalEnergies signed additional construction deals with global partners: Turkey’s ENKA to build a central oil and gas processing hub, China’s Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corp. for a 600 million cubic feet-per-day gas plant, and South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering for a seawater treatment facility with a 7.5 million barrel daily capacity.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani hailed the agreements as a sign of rising foreign investment and a boost to Iraq’s long-term energy security.
