The UK and U.S. are set to announce significant agreements on technology and civil nuclear energy during President Donald Trump's state visit to the UK this week.
The potential agreements highlight US-UK collaboration on technology, energy security, and economic growth, with ambitions to create a "golden age of nuclear" and advance innovation in defense, security, and AI-powered data centers.
The deal—known as the Atlantic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Energy—is expected to be signed during Trump’s second state visit to the UK this week and could see multiple leading U.S. nuclear companies build projects in the UK.
The two countries plan to establish a "world-leading tech partnership" alongside the nuclear agreements.
“Together with the US, we’re building a golden age of nuclear that puts both countries at the forefront of global innovation and investment,” Starmer said in a statement, according to a _Bloomberg_ report [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-14/us-uk-nuclear-pact-to-precede-tech-whisky-deals-on-trump-visit].
“Meeting this demand will require strong partnerships with our allies around the world and robust collaboration with private sector innovators,” US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said.
The president arrives in Britain on Tuesday, takes in a day of pageantry with King Charles III on Wednesday, and meets Starmer on Thursday. Additionally, Britain expects better on U.S. steel and whisky taxes.
