Crypto stocks, fintechs post biggest weekly swings: financials roundup

Financial stocks largely rose with the broader equity market this week as earnings season cooled down, with the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLF]) advancing 1.2% and the S&P 500 Index gaining 1%.

TeraWulf (WULF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/WULF]) rose the most of any financial stock for the week ended Aug. 15, 2025, surging 78% after Google (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) (GOOGL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOGL]) revealed it's taking an 8% stake [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4485358-terawulf-surges-35-as-google-takes-8-stake-in-crypto-miner] in the crypto miner;

Fellow bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) miner Hut 8 (HUT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HUT]) climbed 20% as the price of bitcoin briefly touched new all-time highs [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4485274-bitcoin-touches-another-high-amid-risk-on-sentiment-ether-climbs] during the week;

UNM Holdings (UWMC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UWMC]) accelerated 17%;

Insurance company Lemonade (LMND [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LMND]) gapped up 17%; and

BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BMNR]), an ether (ETH-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ETH-USD]) treasury company, rounded out the five biggest winners with the 12% rise.

On the negative side, retail trading platform eToro (ETOR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ETOR]) tumbled 17% even after posting strong Q2 results [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4483835-etoro-q2-adjusted-earnings-net-contribution-exceed-consensus-stock-slips];

Upstart Holdings (UPST [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UPST]), which during the week priced [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4483635-upstart-prices-600m-convertible-debt-offering] $600M in convertible debt, dipped 6.8%;

Circle Internet Group (CRCL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CRCL]) slid 6.1% after the stablecoin issuer posted stronger-than-expected Q2 revenue [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4483768-circle-internet-stock-jumps-after-q2-revenue-beats-as-stablecoin-demand-builds]and priced a 10M-share [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4485877-circle-prices-10m-share-public-offering-at-130-each] public offering;

Galaxy Digital (GLXY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GLXY]) also retreated 6.1% after the crypto investment firm closed a $1.4B project financing [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4486182-galaxy-digital-secures-14b-financing-to-expand-helios-ai-data-center] facility to expand its Helios data center; and

Argentine lender Grupo Financiero Galicia (GGAL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GGAL]) drifted down 5.4%.
