IREN tops week's financial gainers, Circle Internet falls the most

This week's biggest movers among financial stocks included crypto-linked firms, fintechs and housing-related names.

Overall, the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/XLF]) dipped 1.5% in the past five sessions ended Sept. 5, underperforming the broader S&P 500 Index's 0.3% decrease.

IREN (IREN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/IREN]), a bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) miner and data center operator, saw its shares jump 14% in the past week, as the price of bitcoin eked out [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD/charting?interval=5D] a weekly rise;

Rocket Companies (RKT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RKT]) and Mr. Cooper (COOP [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/COOP]) advanced 13.3% and 13.2%, respectively, after Mr. Cooper shareholders approved [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4492009-mr-cooper-stockholders-approve-merger-with-rocket-companie] the previously announced merger with Rocket.

UWM Holdings (UWMC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UWMC]) accelerated 13.1%; and

PennyMac Financial Services (PFSI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PFSI]) rounded out the five biggest winners with a 7.9% increase.

On the negative side, stablecoin issuer Circle Internet Group (CRCL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CRCL]) gapped down 12.5%;

Payments company Sezzle (SEZL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SEZL]) retreated 10.4%;

Upstart Holdings (UPST [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UPST]) shed 9.3%;

LPL Financial Holdings (LPLA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LPLA]) slid 8.7%; and

Virtu Financial (VIRT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VIRT]) decelerated 8.3%.
