Archer Aviation (ACHR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACHR]) shares were nearly 10% down premarket on Friday, a day after it released its Q3 results, announced its acquisition of Hawthorne airport in Los Angeles, and highlighted $650M in additional fundraising.
Operating expenses rose Y/Y to $174.8M, leading to a wider net loss of $129.9M, compared with $115.3M in Q3 2024.
Adjusted EBITDA also widened to -$116.1M, from -$93.5M a year ago. Archer ended the quarter with $1.64B in cash, cash equivalents and short term investments and $7.3M in restricted cash.
“Our third quarter of 2025 cash balances decreased by $82.7M from the second quarter of 2025, primarily due to the $126M cash used in operating and investing activities (excluding the $1,048.1M used to purchase short-term investments),” the company stated.
Archer (ACHR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACHR]) also agreed to acquire control of Hawthorne airport for $126M in cash. The airport is on an 80-acre site and includes approximately 190,000 square feet of terminal, office and hangar facilities. It is located less than three miles from LAX, and Archer plans to use it as an operational hub for its planned air taxi network operations in the city.
Archer also plans to use the airport as a testbed for next-generation AI-powered aviation technologies being developed for use with its airline and technology partners. This includes AI-powered air traffic and ground operations management.
Archer (ACHR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACHR]) also said it raised $650M of new equity capital, taking its total liquidity to over $2B.
In addition, the company closed its acquisition of Lilium’s portfolio of around 300 advanced air mobility patent assets, including next-generation technology in ducted fans, high-voltage systems, flight controls, electric engines, and propellers.
