* Nexstar (NASDAQ:NXST [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NXST]) said that its owned and partnered ABC affiliate stations won't air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” when it returns to the airwaves on Tuesday night.
"We made a decision last week to preempt 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel’s 'ill-timed and insensitive' comments at a critical time in our national discourse," Nexstar said in a statement [https://www.nexstar.tv/nexstar-abc-affiliates-to-continue-preempting-jimmy-kimmel-live/].
"We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve. In the meantime, we note that 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' will be available nationwide on multiple Disney-owned streaming products, while our stations will focus on continuing to produce local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets," Nexstar added.
Nexstar reportedly owns around 30 ABC affiliates. The company is in the process of acquiring Tegna (NYSE:TGNA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/TGNA]), which also owns ABC affiliates.
Kimmel's show, which is produced by Disney's (NYSE:DIS [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DIS]) ABC, was pulled from the air last week after the host made controversial remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
* On Monday evening, TV station operator Sinclair (NASDAQ:SBGI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SBGI]) said it wouldn't air Kimmel's show on Tuesday.
"Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return," Sinclair said in a post on X [https://x.com/WeAreSinclair/status/1970266039532306593].
Sinclair owns approximately 40 ABC affiliate stations.
* Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee warned about aggressively lowering interest rates while inflation was still an issue.
"I’m OK with moving to be in a better spot, and I think eventually, at a gradual pace, rates can come down a fair amount if we can get this stagflationary dust out of the air,” Goolsbee told CNBC [https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/09/23/chicago-fed-president-goolsbee-we-need-to-be-careful-with-getting-overly-aggressive-on-rate-cuts.html]. “But with inflation having been over the target for four and a half years in a row and rising, I think we need to be a little careful with getting all really up-front aggressive.”
