Global Payments begins marketing $6.2B debt offering for Worldpay deal - report

Global Payments (GPN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GPN]) started marketing a $6.2B dollar bond sale in as many as four tranches, ranging from three to 10 years, to help finance its acquisition of Worldpay, according to a media report.

The initial discussions on the 10-year note suggest a premium of ~1.75 percentage points above Treasuries, Bloomberg News reported, citing a person with knowledge of the matter. The debt is coming to market as global bond sales hit a record annual high of $5.95T this week, Bloomberg said. If the 10-year portion of the GPN debt issuances was priced at the US 10-year Treasury's recent rate of 4.10%, that would bring the Global Payments' (GPN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GPN]) 10-year bond interest rate to ~5.85%.

On Thursday morning, Global Payments (GPN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GPN]) filed a prospectus [https://seekingalpha.com/filing/30424981]for a four-part bond offering to raise funds for the Worldpay transaction. The filing, though, didn't include details on the size of the offering, the notes' tenors or rates, which won't be filled in until the offering launches.

In April, Global Payments (GPN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GPN]) agreed to acquire [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20070222-gtcr-announces-sale-of-worldpay-to-global-payments-for-24_25-billion-in-conjunction-with]45% of Worldpay and the remaining 55% from GTCR in separate agreements for a total of $24.25B in cash and stock.

Global Payments (GPN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GPN]) stock fell 1.4% in early Thursday trading.
