Europe indexes mixed as economic data and U.S. government shutdown weigh sentiment

The UK Nationwide House Price Index rose 2.2% year-on-year in September.

Retail sales in Switzerland fell by 0.2% Y/Y in August. The Swiss procure.ch PMI dropped to a seasonally adjusted 46.3 in September.

Dutch manufacturing expands most in three years, the Nevi Netherlands Manufacturing PMI rose to 53.7 in September. Retail sales in the Netherlands rose by 3.6% Y/Y in August. The annual inflation rate in the Netherlands rose to 3.3% in September.

The annual inflation rate in Austria slowed slightly to 4% in September.

The HALPIM Manufacturing PMI rose to 51.5 in September.

The S&P Global Poland Manufacturing PMI rose to 48.0 in September.

Sweden’s Swedbank Manufacturing PMI rose to 55.6 in September.

Euro Area manufacturing slips back into contraction; factory orders drop [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4500412-euro-area-manufacturing-slips-back-into-contraction-factory-orders-drop].

The pan-European Stoxx 600 [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/STOXX] (STOXX) [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/STOXX] turned 0.28% lower to 555.53, as caution lingered after the US government shut down when lawmakers failed to agree on a temporary funding deal. Attention turned to Eurozone inflation data which could influence the ECB’s policy outlook.

On the political front, EU leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to discuss measures aimed at strengthening regional security.

IN THE BOND MARKET, the yield on the US 10-year Treasury was up less than 1 basis point to 4.16%.

Germany's 10-year yield was up 2 basis points to 2.74%.
