Walmart rolls out lowest turkey prices in six years ahead of holiday season

Walmart (NYSE:WMT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/WMT]) is rolling out its lowest-priced Butterball turkeys [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20272790-walmart-s-annual-thanksgiving-meal-returns-serving-10-people-for-less-than-4_00-per-person] since 2019, offering them at 97 cents per pound, as it looks to attract budget-conscious shoppers this Thanksgiving.

The retailer will also offer a Thanksgiving meal basket with more than 20 items serving 10 people for under $40, its lowest price since the program began three years ago.

Customers can shop the discounted holiday offerings through December 25.

The discount push comes as household budgets come under pressure. Grocery inflation rose in August from July, according to the latest data from the labor department.

Food sales account for about 60% of Walmart’s U.S. revenue and have been a bright spot for the company, as it remains largely insulated from rising import duties. Walmart has said it expects to raise prices due to tariffs.
