Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.48%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Plastic, Glass and Other Electronic sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.48% to hit a new 52-week high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Qualipoly Chemical Corp (TW:4722), which rose 10.00% or 7.10 points to trade at 78.10 at the close. Meanwhile, ITEQ Corp (TW:6213) added 10.00% or 9.00 points to end at 99.00 and AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694) was up 9.98% or 6.20 points to 68.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466), which fell 9.75% or 7.70 points to trade at 71.30 at the close. Favite Inc (TW:3535) declined 9.06% or 6.10 points to end at 61.20 and Weikeng Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3033) was down 9.04% or 3.20 points to 32.20.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Qualipoly Chemical Corp (TW:4722) rose to all time highs; up 10.00% or 7.10 to 78.10.

Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.11% or 0.07 to $63.10 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $66.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.01% or 0.38 to trade at $3,398.62 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 29.97, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.04% to 0.24.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.87.
