Lindt may hop stateside with Easter bunnies to avoid Trump tariffs - report

Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Spruengli AG (OTCPK:LDSVF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LDSVF]) may move production of its famous, gold-wrapped Easter bunnies to the U.S. to sidestep import tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.

The plan would involve spending as much as $10 million to also make bunnies, Santas, and other hollow chocolate figures in the United States, _Bloomberg_ reported, citing people familiar with the matter. They are currently all made in Germany.

Shipments from Germany would incur U.S. import tariffs of 15% under duties imposed on the European Union by Trump. A surge in cocoa costs has already boosted the average price of Lindt products by 16% in the first half of this year, the report said.

The company last month said that despite the difficult global operating environment with declining volumes in the global chocolate market, sharply rising costs for cocoa, and the need to again implement price increases, it was able to continue its successful sales growth [https://seekingalpha.com/article/4804997-chocoladefabriken-lindt-and-sprungli-ag-ldsvf-q2-2025-earnings-call-transcript] trajectory.

In addition to implementing price increases, Lindt (OTCPK:LDSVF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LDSVF]) has continued to implement projects in all regions that drive efficiencies and cost savings.
