Petrobras exec sees production gains at three FPSOs

Petrobras (NYSE:PBR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PBR]) is looking to increase production [https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/brazils-petrobras-eyes-increase-production-three-fpsos-2025-08-18/] at three floating offshore production platforms it operates in the country, head of Exploration and Production Sylvia dos Anjos said Monday, Reuters reported.

Production at the _Almirante Tamandare_ FPSO in the Buzios field could increase from the current 225K bbl/day of oil reached last week to 250K bbl/day, Anjos said, adding it also plans to increase output at the _Marechal Duque de Caxias_ FPSO in the Santos Basin.

Both FPSOs mentioned by name already have reached peak production, but Petrobras (NYSE:PBR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PBR]) is negotiating with SBM Offshore and Modec to raise production beyond that limit, Anjos said; he did not name the third FPSO.

Separately, Petrobras (NYSE:PBR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PBR]) CEO Magda Chambriard said Monday the company is concerned [https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/petrobras-worried-about-upcoming-change-brazils-reference-oil-price-ceo-says-2025-08-18/] about an upcoming change in Brazil's reference oil price that determines some taxes and royalties drillers pay, as it could weaken the economic viability of projects in offshore post-salt fields and in its onshore business.

Petrobras (PBR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PBR]) wants to revitalize oil production in the post-salt fields in northern Rio de Janeiro state and onshore, and the change hurts that move, Chambriard said.
