Investing.com Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) jumped in recent trading Friday after President Donald Trump said the chipmaker had agreed to a deal for the U.S. to take a nearly 10% stake in the chipmaker.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) rose more than 6% following the news.

The announcement from Trump came on the heels of a Bloomberg report saying the Trump administration is set to make a formal announcement that Intel had agreed to the government taking a 10% stake, equivalent to just over $100B.

“They’ve agreed to do it and I think it’s a great deal for them,” Trump told reporters Friday at the White House.
