IndiGo has confirmed an order for 30 Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSF]) (OTCPK:EADSY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSY]) A350-900 aircraft, finalizing a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year and doubling its total A350 commitments to 60 jets, the companies announced Friday. The move underscores the airline’s plan to expand into long-haul international markets.

IndiGo said the additional aircraft will help it connect India with more global destinations as part of a broader strategy to grow its international network over the next decade. Chief executive Pieter Elbers said the order reflects the carrier’s confidence in the long-term growth of Indian aviation and aligns with India’s goal of becoming a global aviation hub.
The A350s, Airbus’s (OTCPK:EADSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSF]) (OTCPK:EADSY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSY]) flagship widebody model, are designed for long-range routes and are expected to form the backbone of IndiGo’s planned intercontinental operations. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, executive vice president for commercial aircraft sales at Airbus, said the manufacturer will support IndiGo as it develops its long-haul services.
The purchase comes amid continued growth in India’s aviation sector, driven by rising household incomes and increased demand for overseas travel. Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSF]) (OTCPK:EADSY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSY]) has been active in the Indian market for over five decades, with its A320 family forming the bulk of IndiGo’s existing fleet.
The A350 incorporates lightweight materials and new-generation engines that reduce fuel consumption and emissions compared with older models, according to Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSF]) (OTCPK:EADSY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSY]). The aircraft can operate using blends of sustainable aviation fuel, with the manufacturer targeting full SAF compatibility by 2030.
As of September 2025, Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSF]) (OTCPK:EADSY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EADSY]) had secured more than 1,400 A350 orders from 63 customers globally.
