BAE Systems workers set to strike after rejecting pay offer, says Unite union

The Unite union announced Wednesday that employees at BAE Systems’ (OTCPK:BAESF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BAESF]) (OTCPK:BAESY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BAESY]) Warton and Samlesbury facilities will go on strike next month after rejecting what the union called an insufficient pay proposal.

Unite said the walkout, involving workers across four divisions including manufacturing and quality control will run from November 5 to November 25.

The dispute centers on BAE’s (OTCPK:BAESF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BAESF]) (OTCPK:BAESY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BAESY]) 3.6% pay increase offer, which the union argued amounts to a real-terms pay cut given inflation. Unite said its members had “overwhelmingly rejected” the proposal and are demanding a fairer settlement that reflects cost-of-living pressures.
