The Dow Jones Industrial Average and other stock indexes turned lower Wednesday afternoon as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell cast doubt on whether policymakers are locked in for another rate cut this year after November's reduction. Stocks were higher after the Fed cut its key rate by 25 basis points but drifted downward during Powell's afternoon press conference. The Dow fell 0.4% after briefly touching the 48,000 level for the first time.
