Opendoor stock extends jump as online hype continues

Opendoor Technologies (NASDAQ:OPEN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPEN]) shares gapped up 8% in Monday late morning trading, extending a streak of advances in recent sessions, as market participants and influencers continued to tout the stock on social media.

Shares of the online real estate platform, which last month also experienced a meme-stock-like frenzy, surged 32% in the past five sessions, as the likes of hedge fund manager Eric Jackson and ProCap Acquisition Corp. (PCAP [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PCAP]) CEO Anthony Pompliano hyped up [https://x.com/ericjackson/status/1957408089902075930] the name on social media platform X.

With OPEN already up ~112% so far this year, the SA Quant [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPEN/ratings/quant-ratings] system, the average SA analyst [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPEN/ratings/author-ratings] and the average Wall Street analyst [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPEN/ratings/sell-side-ratings] all view OPEN a Hold.

Opendoor (NASDAQ:OPEN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPEN]) said last week that Carrie Wheeler stepped down [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4486129-opendoor-chair-ceo-carrie-wheeler-steps-down-stock-continues-rally] from her roles as chair and CEO, with a search process for her replacement well underway.
