Equinix unveils several advanced nuclear deals to power data centers

Equinix (NASDAQ:EQIX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQIX]) said Thursday it entered into several advanced nuclear electricity deals [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20200972-equinix-collaborates-with-leading-alternative-energy-providers-to-power-ai-ready-data-center], including power purchase agreements for fission energy and pre-ordering microreactors for its operations.

Among the agreements, Equinix (NASDAQ:EQIX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQIX]) said it plans to procure 500 MW of energy from Oklo's (OKLO [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OKLO]) next-generation nuclear fission Aurora powerhouses, and it entered into a pre-order agreement for the purchase 20 transportable microreactors from Radiant Nuclear.

In Europe, Equinix (EQIX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQIX]) announced a pre-order power agreement for 500 MWe from Stellaria to expand data centers across Europe, and signed a letter of intent with ULC-Energy for a PPA up to 250 MWe to power data centers in the Netherlands.

Equinix (EQIX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQIX]) also entered into advanced fuel cell agreements with Bloom Energy (BE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BE]) to expand deployment of solid-oxide fuel cells to more than 100 MW at more than 19 data centers in six states to provide onsite power generation.

The agreements are part of Equinix's (EQIX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQIX]) long-term planning [https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/equinix-enters-into-multiple-advanced-nuclear-deals-power-data-centers-2025-08-14/] for electricity to use for its data centers, as opposed to a quick-fix solution, Raouf Abdel, the company's executive VP of global operations, told Reuters.
