Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MSFT]) backed OpenAI generated ~$4.3 billion in revenue during the first half of 2025, representing a 16% increase compared to last year, _The Information_ reported, citing disclosures to shareholders.

H1 cash burn rate was $2.5 billion, mainly due to research and development expenses, particularly costs related to developing advanced AI models and operating ChatGPT.

The company spent $6.7 billion on research and development during the period and had almost $17.5 billion in cash and securities at the end of the period.

The ChatGPT maker aims to reach its FY revenue goal of $13 billion and $8.5 billion in cash-burn rate, the report added [https://www.theinformation.com/articles/openais-first-half-results-4-3-billion-sales-2-5-billion-cash-burn].
