Figma partners with Google Cloud to expand AI-powered design tools

Figma (NYSE:FIG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FIG]) on Thursday announced a collaboration with Google Cloud (NASDAQ:GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) (NASDAQ:GOOGL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOGL]) to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across its design and product development platform.

Google’s AI models, including Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.0, and Imagen 4, will further help Figma's more than 13 million monthly active users' product design needs, the company said. With Gemini's context windows, AI toolset, data platform, and cybertools, Figma expects to meet the increasing demand for user-friendly AI tools.

“With Gemini on Google Cloud, Figma can more easily help its users make high-quality images with just a prompt; experiment with site functions before launch; and accelerate product development by eliminating tedious workflows that slow the design process down,” Google said in its press release.

Early integrations of Gemini 2.5 Flash helped Figma cut latency by 50% for its "Make Image" feature, delivering faster and more responsive image generation.

Earlier this week, ChatGPT CEO Sam Altman announced [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4502100-openai-introduces-apps-such-as-figma-zillow-into-chatgpt-also-launches-agent-builder-and]the integration of Figma and other apps on its AI platform, sending the cloud-based design platform’s shares soaring by over 10%.

On Monday, during his keynote speech at DevDay 2025, Altman launched Apps SDK, which will provide access to various apps within the ChatGPT dialogue window.
