Global PC shipments rise 9.4% in Q3 2025, Apple secures fourth spot: IDC

Global PC shipments grew 9.4% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2025, reaching 75.9M units, according to preliminary data [https://my.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS53855725] from IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker.

The market continues to benefit from the Windows 11 upgrade cycle and the replacement of aging devices.

AMONG TOP VENDORS:

* Lenovo (OTCPK:LNVGY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LNVGY]) led the market with 19.4M units shipped (up 17.3%), capturing 25.5% market share.
* HP (HPQ [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HPQ]) followed with 15M units and 10.7% growth, holding 19.8% of the market.
* Dell Technologies (DELL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DELL]) saw modest growth at 2.6%, shipping 10.1M units.
* Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AAPL]) posted 13.7% growth, reaching 6.8M units, benefiting from sustained consumer and education demand.
* ASUS (OTCPK:ASUUY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ASUUY]) grew 11.4%, shipping 5.9M units.

Despite overall strength, regional performance varied. North America remained constrained by U.S. import tariffs and macroeconomic uncertainty, while Asia/Pacific (including Japan and China) saw double-digit growth, fueled particularly by Japan’s hardware refresh in response to Windows 10’s end-of-support and government-led education initiatives under the GIGA project.

Despite challenges, PC vendors are seeing opportunities in refresh cycles from devices bought during or before the COVID-19 pandemic.
