STORY: From a major outage for Amazon's cloud unit to Apple's new record. This is Tech Weekly.:: Tech WeeklyAmazon's cloud services unit AWS was hit by a major global outage.It knocked out thousands of websites, disrupting businesses and some of the world's most popular apps, including Snapchat and Reddit.The issue marked the largest internet disruption since last year's CrowdStrike malfunction.Roblox, Coinbase and Robinhood were among some of the other big names affected.Apple became just the third company ever to hit a $4 trillion valuation.Shares surged after data firm Counterpoint showed sales of the new iPhone 17 series performing strongly.Investors were pleased to hear the newer models were outselling the previous iPhone 16 series by 14% during their first 10 days of availability in the U.S. and China.European aerospace firms could be closing in on a major satellite deal to take on U.S. giants.Sources said Leonardo, Airbus and Thales have reached a framework agreement on a proposed merger of their satellite businesses.They have reportedly been in talks for more than a year to create a new manufacturing company - codenamed 'Project Bromo'.It would compete with rivals led by Elon Musk's SpaceX, which owns the successful Starlink.And Alphabet's robotaxi unit Waymo showcased its self-driving Jaguar taxi at an event in New York City.It was to highlight a partnership with the city's Bronx Community College to develop and enhance an autonomous vehicle training programme. Waymo and Jaguar Land Rover teamed up in 2018 to design and engineer the all-electric car.
