Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 1.16% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Ferrari NV (BIT:RACE), which rose 3.57% or 13.70 points to trade at 397.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Telecom Italia (BIT:TLIT) added 2.80% or 0.01 points to end at 0.46 and Buzzi Unicem (BIT:BZU) was up 2.65% or 1.14 points to 44.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (BIT:UNPI), which fell 0.66% or 0.12 points to trade at 18.17 at the close. Moncler SpA (BIT:MONC) declined 0.65% or 0.30 points to end at 46.20 and Saipem SpA (BIT:SPMI) was down 0.52% or 0.01 points to 2.28.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 367 to 238 and 50 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telecom Italia (BIT:TLIT) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.80% or 0.01 to 0.46.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.80% or 1.13 to $63.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.65% or 1.08 to hit $66.71 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.65% or 22.03 to trade at $3,386.27 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 98.10.
