Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.73% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ebara Corp. (TYO:6361), which rose 11.20% or 326.00 points to trade at 3,238.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) added 10.08% or 775.00 points to end at 8,461.00 and Japan Exchange Group Inc (TYO:8697) was up 8.94% or 137.50 points to 1,676.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324), which fell 12.73% or 401.50 points to trade at 2,752.50 at the close. Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) declined 9.44% or 389.00 points to end at 3,731.00 and Tosoh Corp. (TYO:4042) was down 2.46% or 56.50 points to 2,242.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1962 to 1622 and 265 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ebara Corp. (TYO:6361) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 11.20% or 326.00 to 3,238.00. Shares in Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) rose to 5-year highs; up 10.08% or 775.00 to 8,461.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.24% to 24.56.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.61% or 0.39 to $63.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.51% or 0.34 to hit $66.50 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 3.12 to trade at $3,386.32 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.49% to 147.11, while EUR/JPY fell 0.28% to 171.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 97.84.
