Canadian energy company Saturn Oil & Gas (OTCQX:OILSF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OILSF]) announced [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20209854-saturn-oil-and-gas-inc-announces-tsx-approval-to-renew-the-normal-course-issuer-bid-following] on Monday the renewal of its normal course issuer bid for a further one-year term.
The company said the Toronto Stock Exchange has accepted its notice to renew the stock buyback program, following completion of an existing program that expires on August 26.
Saturn is set to purchase for cancellation up to 12.08M shares of common stock, representing ~10% of the public float as of August 21.
As of August 21, the company had 192.86M shares issued and outstanding.
As of July 31, the company had repurchased, and canceled, about 9.73M shares for $20.3M. The weighted average price per share comes to $2.09.
Separately, Saturn also completed a substantial issuer bid, which closed on July 16. The company had cancelled a further 1.61M shares purchased at $2.15 per share.
From August 27, 2024, to July 31, 2025, the company has cancelled a total of 11.3M shares, representing a reduction of ~6% in shares outstanding as at August 27, 2024.
