France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.70%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.70%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.78%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which rose 0.54% or 1.20 points to trade at 225.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) added 0.02% or 0.02 points to end at 86.28 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was down 0.10% or 0.40 points to 396.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 6.84% or 3.82 points to trade at 52.00 at the close. Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF) declined 5.80% or 7.05 points to end at 114.45 and Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) was down 5.44% or 0.90 points to 15.65.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vusiongroup SA (EPA:VU) which rose 1.49% to 218.60, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA:XFAB) which was up 1.05% to settle at 7.22 and SES (EPA:SESFd) which gained 0.85% to close at 5.95.

The worst performers were Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which was down 8.45% to 13.00 in late trade, Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which lost 8.35% to settle at 9.99 and Eiffage SA (EPA:FOUG) which was down 7.85% to 109.75 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 407 to 80 and 81 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 16.92 to $3,434.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.07% or 1.34 to hit $63.46 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.99% or 1.36 to trade at $66.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 98.05.
